Very windy today, calm week ahead

A high wind warning is in effect today. The area of low pressure that brought the rain and wind yesterday has moved northward into Quebec and has deepened to 966mb. Winds today will come sustained at 20 to 30mph with gusts to near 55mph through the afternoon. This could be a dangerous situation for New Englanders today. Stay tuned. Please see the latest Storm Updates as well as the NWS discussions for more information.
Colder air will ride the wind into the region today. highs will struggle to reach the mid 40s. There is a slight chance for a shower or snow shower today as lake effect precipitation streams through NY and PA. The cold air will not hold on for too long as another storm system approaches the region and brings warmer air out ahead of it. Temperatures could near 60 on Tuesday. Tuesday Night, the front will come through bringing a chance for some showers. Cooler weather will return to the region for the rest of the week with highs in the 40s and lows in the upper 20s.
A quieter pattern will take hold of the region at that point, with dry weather the rule through next weekend.

I'll have the final NWS rain reports from this past storm as well as wind reports posted this afternoon.
