At this point, with consideration of shadowing and difficulty in forecasting norluns, will drop forecast back to 3 to 5 inches. Looks like heaviest snow will come in two waves. The first one late 6pm to midnight, and then 3am to 9am. Could see a burst of 1 to 2 inches in each of these time periods with very light accumulations in between.
As for school tomorrow, it is my opinion that the snowfall will be too spread out to stay ahead of the plows (although people on my street can vouch for the fact that the Sunday storm is still "ahead of the plows"), however the morning burst of snow could reduce visibility and be a notable hazard for commuting. Timing is fine for a cancellation, however accumulations will be too light and spread out. Snow is expected to continue through the day Thursday, but with only an inch of additional accumulation. Reduced cancellation potential a lot, while raising delay potential a bit based on the increased confidence on accumulating snows before 6am.
