Freezing rain outside right now, with already a glaze on most surfaces. Temperatures will stay steady through midnight, and start to rise above freezing by 2am. Freezing rain will mix with plain rain through the morning hours Wednesday before tapering off. One thing that should be noted is the current temperature of the ground. While surface temperatures may rise above freezing tonight. Untreated roads will still be suseptable to rain freezing on contact. Could see some icing up to a tenth of an inch. - As for delay potential, all depends how long freezing rain continues for. At this point, I'll leave it around 50/50. For the chance a delay is not issued, still use procaution when driving tomorrow morning, as roads will likely be slick.
Thursday Night continues to be the story of the suppessed short wave. Still could see a couple inches of snow, but main accumulations will be kept south, with peak amounts near 10 inches across northeast PA into interior southeast NY, northern CT and southwest MA. - Delay potential exists for Friday, but hanging on a thread. There is a chance we wont get more than an inch, although a shift to the north could put us back to around 4 inches.
Two close calls in the next 3 days.
- As for Sunday, major winter storm is likely for the eastern third of the nation. Specifics wont be available for a while however. I'll post a threat map either tomorrow night or Thursday for the storm.
