Storm potential Friday
The next storm on the horizon is progged by most model guidance for Friday (1/8). A shortwave will amplify on the east side of the west coast ridge, and dive southward out of Alberta on Wednesday. By Thursday, the position and amplitude of the wave becomes less certain, as model guidance diverges. However, there is still agreement on low pressure intensifying off the east coast on Friday. Again, models vary with regards to intensity and position, and the origins of the low. Enough cold air will be in place for snow, and decent snow to liquid ratios too. The question becomes how much moisture is available. The potential does exist for a notable snow event Friday through Friday night/Saturday morning.
