Heavy rain, thunderstorms today. Isaac near peak

Hurricane Isaac reached 85mph this morning. A storm system moving eastward through the Atlantic will turn Isaac northward, and also bring increased shear into the picture. Isaac will likely become extratropical within the next few days.

Heavy rain and gusty winds have moved into the region as a strong storm system from the Ohio Valley has moved into New England. Already in Keene, .3 inches has fallen and we are still looking at a good 24 hours more of rain. thunderstorms are also possible with locally heavy downpours and increased winds. there is a slight chance for a strong to severe thunderstorm or two south of the Mass Pike. Total accumulation on the order of 0.5 to 1.5 inches is expected by the time the rain ends Monday. Skies will become partly cloudy Monday evening and should clear up for Tuesday.
Temperatures today will be the coldest highs so far this season in many spots in New England. In Keene, highs won't move much from lows in the 40s this morning. temperatures will likely peak in the low 50s this afternoon. Warmer weather will move in for Monday through Wednesday with highs in the 60s and low 70s. A storm system on Wednesday will bring a chance for showers and possibly a thunderstorm through the afternoon. showers will move eastward Wednesday night and could possibly switch over to snow in the north country. temperatures will tumble for Thursday through Saturday with highs in the low to mid 50s and lows down around 30 (lowest for the season so far). A gradual warming trend will start up by next weekend.

Stay tuned for the latest on the weather situation today. poor drainage street flooding is a possibility through this evening.
