You can see on this latest radar loop many things occuring. First, notice the development of radar returns across SE MA and RI moving N. This is a warm front assoicated with the trough bringing in easterly flow and starting the development of instability precipitation. To the south and west of that, notice precipitation starting to wrap around an area south of Long Island. This is where the secondary low is developing. Further west, you can see the outline of the warm front across NY state and then can also see the primary low approaching Lake Ontario.
As for what to expect through tonight. Based on latest radar, a period of moderate snow should begin falling by 2030. This band of snow will contribute 1 to 2 inches of accumulation here through 1am.
