SEPTEMBER 2006 TURNED OUT TO BE ANOTHER WARMER THAN NORMAL
MONTH IN CONCORD NEW HAMPSHIRE, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS BY THE
SMALLEST OF MARGINS.

SEPTEMBER HAD AN AVERAGE TEMPERATURE OF 59.5 DEGREES WHICH
WAS JUST 0.1 DEGREE ABOVE NORMAL. THIS WAS THE 74TH WARMEST
SEPTEMBER IN THE PAST 139 YEARS OF TEMPERATURE RECORDS
AT CONCORD. THE WARMEST SEPTEMBER WAS 1961 WITH AN AVERAGE
TEMPERATURE OF 67.1 DEGREES AND THE COLDEST WAS 1893 WITH
AN AVERAGE OF 53.6 DEGREES.

THIS IS THE 7TH MONTH THIS YEAR AND THE 9TH MONTH IN THE PAST
12 MONTHS TO HAVE TEMPERATURES AVERAGE ABOVE NORMAL. ONLY
MARCH AND AUGUST OF THIS YEAR HAD BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES,
AND FOR THE PAST 12 MONTHS DECEMBER OF 2005 CAN BE ADDED TO
THAT LIST.

THE HIGHEST TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH WAS 84 DEGREES ON THE
9TH. THERE WERE 4 OTHER DAYS WITH HIGHS OF 80 OR WARMER.
IN CONTRAST, THE MONTHLY LOW TEMPERATURE WAS 31 DEGREES ON
THE 30TH. ALTOGETHER THERE WERE 8 DAYS WITH LOWS IN THE 30S.

THERE WAS ONLY 2.27 INCHES OF RAIN FOR THE MONTH, 0.89 INCHES
BELOW NORMAL. THIS WAS TIED WITH 1986 AS THE 90TH WETTEST
/OR TIED AS THE 49TH DRIEST/ SEPTEMBER IN THE PAST 139 YEARS.
