Spring in full swing Friday

No big changes to the forecast.

In major contrast to the last couple weeks, a full 5+ days of sun is in store now. And forecast confidence is high through Friday. Anticyclonic flow and dry air aloft will keep blue skies in control tomorrow. After a chilly start, highs will rebound into the upper 50's. Low pressure will rocket off the Mid Atlantic coast Tuesday night into Wednesday, and this could spread some moisture up to the New England south coast, with some cloudiness reaching I90, but sunny skies should continue for central New England. The low will leave a weak trough in its wake, which will contribute to slightly cooler temperatures (for the most part unnoticeable) through Thursday. On Friday, trough axis is well offshore and strong high pressure shifts into the Great Lakes region, taking control of the eastern half of the nation. Sunny skies with 850mb temperature reaching toward 5C will support highs rising into the mid 60's.

So the work week looks great. What about the weekend? Some questions begin to arise toward the latter half. A short wave will swing north of the region on Saturday. Moisture fields look fairly limited suggesting precipitation will be unlikely, but there could be an increase in clouds. Temperatures will still make it up to around 60. Frontal passage occurs Saturday evening, ushering in cooler temperatures for Sunday. In addition, low pressure will be approaching from the central Plains, bringing an influx of moisture, and a chance for showers. +PNA ridging in the west suggests a trough should remain fairly fixed over the east coast in the medium range. While this doesnt mean the entire period will be cold, it limits the magnitude and longevity of any warm ups.
