I have a little less time this evening, so I'll make it short.
Short term issues further south: Some light to moderate rain will reach CT and southern RI tomorrow morning. Highest totals will be in SW CT with around a quarter inch. North of I90 will be remain sunny all day though.
Really not much to discuss through Friday. Sun and rising temperatures will be the story. The peak will be Friday with highs shooting into the mid to upper 60's. For reference, normal highs this time of the year are in the upper 50's.
On Saturday, a short wave will swing south out of Quebec, with an attendant cold front. Temperatures should still hit 60 in the early afternoon, but clouds will be on the increase and there could be a scattered shower later in the evening.
Meanwhile, a storm system will be swinging through the southern plains. The storm, currently an intense ball of energy entering northern CA, will move southeast out of the western states tomorrow. By Sunday evening, model guidance is advertising northern stream energy phasing with the southern system, developing a robust storm that will turn north into the Ohio Valley on Monday, and into the Great Lakes region by Tuesday morning. This has the makings of a couple similar rain events we've seen earlier this spring with overall a dreary few days with moderate to heavy rainfall totals and thunderstorm potential. There are some inconsistencies with timing, but in general it's looking like around Monday into Tuesday.
Trough axis will be aligned across the eastern states days 8-10 with neutral tilt. Overall, looking at below normal temperatures likely for a good portion of next week.
Ridging out west should begin to break down / shift east by the following weekend, and slowly rising temperatures should accomany the change.
